Recording Solo Bass

I've recently starting getting into recording solo bass and I want to get the point where I can handle all my recording needs. Do you have any suggestions on how to record solo bass?

My current setup is my Schecter Stiletto bass running into my head and then into a PreSonus Firebox. I get a pretty strong sound out of it, but, I obviously need to incorporate some combination of reverb, etc. I was told to use compression but I'm extremely new to recording and I don't really know what I'm doing...haha.

If you have the time, I have a test recording that gives an example of what kind of raw sound I'm working with at: http://www.myspace.com/christopherthomasmusic

Thanks

I liked the sound from the test recording, it sounds pretty clean.
A week ago I recorded some songs using my cousin's iMac with garageband just messing around until I got a 'good' sound.

You can listen to them if you like.

Iván, the harmonics sound really nice. They remind me a lot of The Vision by Victor Wooten. Keep up the good work

Thank you!
Do you have any videos or other recorded material? I'd like to listen to them if you do.

Hey all, I just wanted to give my inpt on recording as well. I run my bass through an M-Audio interface right into my Mac and mix it with Audacity.
To the OP, what software are you using to mix down and bounce the recordings with? I know audacity has compressors built in and it is very easy to use. Audacity is also open source so it is free to download, as is the same with garage band on Mac's.
Good stuff by the way, I dig all of the work posted here.
Keep rockin

Well I'm currently using Cubase LE and the default plugins that come with it. I personally enjoy Cubase over Audacity because of its editing capabilities. I've tried some of the plugins that come with Cubase but they're either not that good or I don't know how to properly use them the get the sound I'm looking for. I'm looking to record a CD so it needs less like a demo and more like a professional recording.

Professional's use Logic, Reason, or some other high end recording software. The stuff on my site was recorded through the MAudio interface and Logic, and its comes out very well (all the screw ups are my own, doesn't fix those sadly).
Honestly I never use compressors when recording. I have one, but it is rarely used. For more information search bongomania (a TB member) and he has a thread where he discusses every compressor under the sun, very informative.
