Steve, a question about your flats.

How long do you usually go before you replace your strings? And do you notice (other than aurally) any difference in tapping on dead flats vs. tapping on new ones?

It seems to me that I have to use a little more 'umph' when tapping dead strings.

Just wondering how you approach the technique and the tonality of it all.

Hi Keith,

I usually go about a year before changing them... and yes, there is definitely a difference when tapping them - I don't tend to do that much tapping on my 6s, so I don't notice it too much, but on the tunes where I do, I can definitely feel it getting much easier when I've just changed the strings...
