Acceptable Latency???

I am recording and the focusrite usb asio driver detects an Imput Latency of 22.667 ms and an output latency of 33.333 ms ...
Is this acceptable for recording???

That is a lot of latency. You should be able to reasonably
get under 10 ms in/ 10 ms out with most interfaces but I haven't used yours.
You can work with it but would probably fair best monitoring the input pre- recording (if your software allows. This is commonly referred to as zero latency monitoring). For overdubs, do the same. You will still need to nudge the audio forward to match the input latency amount on overdubs post recording, in order to be correctly in time with the tracks you are dubbing to.

1 ms = speed of sound for 1 ft

So 55 ms would be like standing 55 ft from the speaker.

If you're doing VST effects then this may be some trouble.
If you're just recording and not listening to the processing then it can be a bother.

I agree, that seems high, and 10 to 20ms would be more comfortable (same as 10 to 20 feet from the speaker)

As get mentioned many times, Start with CD quality to record. 44.1khz 16bit
And your computer works less. Set the buffer to a smaller size and see what this gets you. Play with these settings.

Read the dpc latency checker page top to bottom, it could be something else in your computer using up the CPU.

When you record, turn off your anti-virus program. You may be able to lower your ASIO buffer to reduce latency. Also, if your using Win Vista, go into
Control Panel --> System --> Advanced System Settings --> Performance settings --> click "Adjust for Best Performance"

This is a good start to reducing latency. The majority of latency comes from the computer and not the interface.

Netbooks aren't exactly known for their speed. What are you actually running for memory/processor/OS/etc?

You really should go to the dpc latency checker site and do everything there

Just running msconfig and rebooting with all the extra crap turned off may show you if the thing is going to work at all.
