A little more to come later... I have to reduce the file size before I can attach them.

2. The same... (with sales person)
The blades rotate at 800 rpm and moves in and out using a voice coil. Needs at least a 600 cu. ft. cabinet. Note: Does not fly They say that this is the only woofer that will produce a DC wave (by way of a constant pressure produced by the fan). Inventor says any higher than 800 rpm would produce unwanted fan noise.
[edit]The blade angle changes (engages more air) with the amount of positive voice coil excursion. I did not get a chance to listen to this at their off site demo room. http://www.eminent-tech.com/main.html

The booth was very crowded when I was there.

Originally Posted by JansenW Have not heard of Dakin DIs. Anyone know anything about them? | Yes, and if you go back and get a chance to try that one out, I'd love to hear a report. Daking is a high-end audio company that is famous for its mic pre's and compressors, and they are well liked by pro studios. That particular unit runs $675, and every report I've read so far says it's worth it. It would be great for recording, but certainly overkill for live DI to FOH; however it has up to 60 dB gain so it can probably drive any power amp, and it has a super-useful low-cut filter adjustable anywhere from 0 to 200 Hz, so it would be a good choice for a DB'er or anyone who wants to cut subharmonics or excess low end out of their onstage signal.
I know I sound like a shill, but I'm not- I've just been GASsing hard for one of those units since they were released a couple weeks ago. |
