Sorry i did not search this before asking but to be honest, i wouldn't even know what to search for!

i am currently using a alesis 24 HD recorder at my studio at work. however at home i am looking for a firewire interface to connect up to my mac book.I am currently looking at M-Audio Firewire 18-14. ive been looking and have noticed that on the back of the alesis there is a optical ADAT output and on the a optical ADAT input on the M-Audio.

Just out of curiosity, if i was to link these two units up plus my macbook what could be done? could i record 24 tracks simultaneously into logic or protools?

Cheers

Dave

Each optical port only carries 8 tracks, the HD24 has 3 of 'em. Don't know how many the m-audio has but if it's only one then you could do 8 tracks i/o to your DAW at once. So yeah you could hook the HD24 up the interface, and record 8 tracks per port directly into the software of your choice. That's at 48khz, if you are going for the 92khz that an upgraded HD24 would have then each lightpipe will carry 4 tracks at once.
