Of all the recording packages...

Sign in to disble this ad
On sites like Musiciansfriend, there are a number of recording packages.

I would like to get a nice pro-tools inclusive package that can handle at least two (preferrably three) guitars and/or one electronic drum and a mic or two. Probably will record in two/three guitars at once, guitar & mics, or any smaller combo at a single time.

I would like to know which package is the ideal one to buy in the eyes of the different folks on here.

Would like sub $1000 recommendations.

Thanks..

If you need the package to include monitors/mics, keeping it under $1000 may be a bit tough.

After a bit of research, it looks like a good option would be to get the M-Audio ProFire 610 and a DMP3 Preamp. If you search, you should be able to get both for around $500. Then purchase Pro Tools M-Powered for Between $200-250. That will leave you enough to find a cheaper pair of monitors.

You also may be able to find some great deals on Ebay - just make sure it's from an authorized dealer. Unique Squared is an ebay store I've found some great deals from in the past. You may even be able to find a Profire 2626 + M-Powered bundle for a pretty good price - and that would give you some extra I/O if you ever need more in the future.

A PT setup with that many inputs would run way more than a $1000 and that doesn't include mic. cables, speakers and etc.
