Audacity recording to CD...help

Sign in to disble this ad
Recently I downloaded and made a few tracks on Audacity but when I encoded it to mp3 and then wrote it to a CD, I didn't hear anything coming out. I turned the volume up to the highest level it would go on but didn't hear anything. I honestly don't know what to do.

I should state that my objective is to record several riffs and rhythms for my guitarist so that we can work on some songs. But since I can't get them onto CD and get them heard audibly it is putting a damper on that plan.

Any help will be appreciated.

I probably should have stated that I am a new user of Audacity so I can only assume that I was getting good levels as when I played it back I heard it loud and clear. I didn't have time to check it in Media player as my father wanted his computer again. The Media player on this computer doesn't work so I have to do the burning and media playing on his computer.

Basically what I am wondering is what did I do wrong, and how do you do it as a fellow Audacity user?

That sounds like it should have worked, but you really shouldn't encode to mp3 before burning. Just burn wav files, since mp3s throw away data when you encode, lowering your sound quality. Wavs and CDs are lossless.
