No Firewire in my comp, otherwise I'd consider it.

Looking for the same thing here, but primarily focusing on firewire input.

Jimmy, I've had multiple sources tell me they have preferred the Focusrite stuff over anything but Apogee (in reference to small, portable interfaces.) That's including M audio, Presonus and any other brand found at your local GC.

Ditto right here, I LOVE THE M-AUDIO, easy to use.

Hello guys !

I would like to start recording stuff on my own and found 2 great interfaces but can't decide...

http://www.amazon.com/Focusrite-2i2-...ords=focusrite

http://www.amazon.com/PreSonus-Audio...sonus+audiobox

What are your recommendations ? And I would like to know which softwares come with these ?

Thanks, and bass on !

I'm probably a little late here, but I used a line 6 POD XT Pro Rack mount as my interface to record all guitar and bass on my album. See soundcloud link below. With that said, I too am looking for something new and a step up if anyone has suggestions. I also have a M-audio Project Mix, but don't like the quality. I mainly just use it as control surface and not an audio interface. Currently running Sonar Producer 8.5, VIsta 64 Ultimate with 24gigs of RAM.

Dmcghee - do you have anything to share here so we can hear how the HD sounds? I'd love to know how the guitar distortion a are on there too. I only need occasional distortion for visiting guitar player so the pocket pod may be my cheaper option too.

I would back the Focusrite stuff, i own a motu interface, however a lot of places i have played have used the focusrite, it very good

My experience with M-audio stuff however has not been great unless you fork out for the top end stuff which is not cheap lol

I wouldn't touch anything that just does 44-48Khz. 96K is standard sampling rate, gives you the headroom you want/need.
Is 'headroom' really the word you meant to use? Bit rate has very little to do with how loud you can or can't go.

JIMMY.....

For the little we've communicated...

I'd strongly suggest a used Lexicon Omega... then USB for your MIDI stuff

----

I own several interfaces.. ranging from low to high end.... for the buck the used Lexicons are easy to use... have latency control... easy to setup ... real knobs...

I've seen Alpha and omega in the $30-50 range... look new.

Wally, how do you like your Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 so far?
I’ve been searching/reading TB and I’m considering ordering one too.

Bump ~ pro/con anyone?
I'm thinking about picking up a little Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface to use with my (PC) laptop for portable use - but I'm still looking for comments before I pull the trigger and order it.

EDIT: For example - the only con I’ve read so far was, the inst/mic input headphone volume is low (plenty of playback headphone volume), but they may of had other problems. Has anyone here experienced a lack of headphone volume when monitoring the source signal? Thanks

EDIT, EDIT: I pulled the trigger and ordered a Scarlett 2i2 this afternoon.

Joe, I've had no problems with mine. All instruments are different and finding the correct balance of the different sources of volume between the instrument and the interface.

I'm sure you'll be satisfied.

Wally
