Bass Pod XT humming - pls help

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi

I've just taken delivery of a Line 6 Bass Pod XT and have been testing it out on my headphones, with my Squier Classic Vibes Jazz bass.

With a lot of the different presets there is a VERY noticable humming or crackling, which stops (or at least vastly reduces) when I touch a metal part of the bass, or the metal headphone jack that is plugged into the Pod unit.

I realise that the Jazz bass, with 2 single coils, is going to feature some hum, but I don't think this is a normal amount, and seems to be to do with the grounding of an electrical part.

Please help - can it be fixed?

Kind regards
James

It's not the Pod, it's the bass. Most instruments do this to some degree, with proper shielding you can get the level down to where it is not noticeable.

It should be stopping when you touch the strings, no?

would a grounding problem be solved by getting the bass shielded, or are they 2 separate things?
