Beginner looking for some Gear

Hello everybody,

soo, let me explain my situation. Me (bass, second vocals) and my friend (guitar, main vocals) want to get a bit more professional and start recording our stuff. We dont have a drummer (yet, lol).

At the moment, we are recording guitar/bass with my laptop and the onboard soundchip. So we put a 3,5mm to 6,3mm Adapter in our guitars and connect it with a 3,5mm cable to the mic-in from my laptop. Then we record using REAPER, the ASIO4ALL Driver and a Software Amp (FreeAmp3). For vocals, we are using a cheap ass 13$ Headset.

So now were looking for a decent Audio Interface (i guess best would be USB) with at least 2 XLR Inputs for decent mics, and at least 2 6,3mm Inputs that work without preamps (HI-Z). More Inputs would be cool tough.

What would you recommend? And what else do we need for a home recording little Studio?

Thanks, and please excuse my english. Im acutally from germany.

No offense man, but I think you'll find alot of old school guys here. 3 mics and a reel to reel is what I started on. Good luck though!

You need to learn more about audio and then set a budget. Check out a site like Tweakheadz lots of good info and gear recommendations according to budget.
