Sony...hands down. I used them for studio, DJing, and even my iphone. The quality is pretty sick. But I have a pair of Klipcsh ear buds that I plugged in to use instead of the Sony's the other day and I think, me personally, they're better than the sony's. They block out all outside noise, I can blast them loud with no distortion, and it literally feels like the music is just playing in my head because they are just sitting in my ears with nothing going over my head. And the quality is unquestionable but...it is Klipcsh so they're a pretty solid company. But....that's just me.

I would agree if you refer to the SA5000, a masterpiece of engineering.

There are other full range, flat response studio monitor headphones out there. But as far as I know there are none this good for cheaper.

Forgot about those MDR-V6's! Just dug mine out and am going to chill with some Pink Floyd.

Of those three I'd probably go for the 280 pro's, but they'll be no good for you if you have a bigger size head. Personally I use AKG k240 mkIIs - absolutely love them. I got those for just under £100. If you don't want semi-open headphones, go for AKG k272

B&H is legit but I've never figured out how NYC and specifically Brooklyn became a global leader in online camera retailers. They were undercutting everyone for awhile and many were pretty scammy but they still sold some real cheap stuff. One would think the overhead would mover them to Bangkok so there must be something else going on.

Seems like a lot of grey market cameras 'fall off the truck' there before making it to the docks.
Those "big camera stores" you're talking about are all closed Friday afternoons and Saturdays as well... have to assume some of the folks there may have some connections with some vendors?

Why is that? I have a pretty big dome, but they work great for me.

I use AKG-240s for 30 years now. After the first 240s were broken after about 20 years and legions of guitar players triped over its cable and tore it from my head, I just went to the next shop and bought 240s again.
Can't say this about a lot of other stuff I own in case it gets broken.

I love them. Just a few years ago, I bought aa addititional pair of K141 because of their lower impedance. The original 240s have a high impedance - but for a reason - it was possible to use a couple of 240s using just an adapter und plugging it into the same single headphone output of a mixing desk. But the impedance of the older 240s is to low for headphone outputs on iPhones, notebooks etc.

Usually they are around the $159 range.

I use DT770's, AKG k240's, and HD280's. Having switched between them when listening to the same mix...
The HD280 are more mid range heavy and not great to me. I threw them in my live mixing console case and only use them for live mixing where I need good isolation. Mostly used for balancing volumes in monitor mixing and not critical EQ'ing
You and I work the same! I 2nd the 770s and the akg.

And I would concur on the sennheisers.... They're hard on the ears.

I've been on a headphone kick as of late so ill add a couple more!

Shure 440s are nice for $99.... I lie em better than the 840s for double the price.

I just ordered a pair of Krk 8400 or is it 8600? At any rate, I tried then a couple weeks ago.... They're very sweet at about $150. I think Krk are relatively new to headphones.
