I need a preamp for home recording. I want it to work with both guitar and bass. What´s best in your opinion?
Sansamp GT-2, Behringer bass v-amp, Pod or anything else?

POD. I get some pretty good sound out of my POD for both.

I use a sansamp Bass Driver for guitar as well. Works fine, overdrive is nice.

However, for both gtr and bass I'm finding I need more EQ and am looking for a parametric.

I'd probably get one of the rack mount sans amp units in retrospect.

There are many versatile Pre's out on the market. I'm not sure of your budget but, you can purchase a good pre that will work for everything you record, meaning not limited to bass/guitar.

I own and use the following.

Millennia STT-1 ORIGIN
Sebatron VMP 4000/2000
JLM TMP8
Neve 9098's
Great River
Grace 101
FMR RNP
Focusrite Red

There are many more!

PreSonus pre's are OK and not outrageously expensive. Maybe you could get one channel to start, then add more later?

Thanks for all the ideas.
Im specifically looking for a pre that can emulate great guitaramps like VOX and Fender Blackface and also SVT B15 for bass.

IME, amp modeling and high quality pre's do not come together. Then again, I think most amp modeling sucks, so take it with a grain of salt. I like the Tech21 stuff for guitar, but I'd still use it with a good pre.

I totally agree. I dont like modeling for bass. But Im not sure you can get a good guitar sound with just a good preamp. I guess guitars are more dependent of speakers.
Basses can sound great DI:ed.

Yep, I agree. Guitar into a TRI-AC or a GT-2 into a good pre though, very nice!
