Cubase LE, Zoom B2.1, USB.. no playback in cubase

Hi, I'm trying to troubleshoot a problem with the above software and equipment.
I am connecting my zoom pedal usb to computer, running cubase LE.
I am using the usb audio codec that is supposed to be used, and have managed to record successfully, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to get anything to play while in cubase. If I exit the program, I can play back my recordings in Windows Media player. If USB is connected, I hear playback through amp, if disconnected, I hear playback through PC soundcard/speakers.

After recording in cubase, while trying to playback, the vst output is showing good playback levels. I've clicked/unclicked the monitor button, etc.. I think I've followed all instructions that I can find for this. Am I missing something?

PC: AthlonXP 2.0ghz, Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound, 512 meg memory, Windows XP pro..

Thanks for any help..
Mag...

I was getting a similar problem-especially when the volume of the speakers during playback was very high-the mic still seemed active and feeding back at times-so we turned off the Monitor function-that stopped the problem completely!!! NOW ... IF I COULD FIGURE HOW TO SEND A COPY OF OUR MUSIC TO TALKBASS, YOU COULD HEAR HOW IT REALLY SOUNDS!!! Peace...Dacat

I don't get any sort of feedback.. I just don't get any playback sound while in the program.
Another symptom I seem to notice is that when I start cubase, I get a faint, high-pitched, test-tone noise through my amp. When I exit the program, the noise disappears, even though the USB connection is still active through my amp. So that's got to be something with the input, even though the noise is not in the recordings I've made.

Anything I might be missing while trying to playback in cubase? Although I can record, I can't really do much of anything else if I have to exit the program to listen to anything I've done..

This is the b2.1U pedal from zoom? What outputs does it have? If you're playing back from in Cubase, you need the output to be routed to the right place. It should say something like Zoom B2.1U Stereo Out or something, or ASIO DirectX Multimedia. You want the ASIO for the Zoom as the output. If you're plugging your speakers into the laptop you won't get output, you'll need to plug your speakers into the pedal.

I had a similar problem while in playback mode while hooked to my stereo amp-was the MIC ACTIVE light on above the LED screen? If so-I think you need to hit menu ,scroll to Monitor-and hit record button-then turn off monitor with the >> keys. Peace...DAcat

It's the type of USB cable that has the squarish looking plug on the other end...like the cables that you would use to connect a USB printer to your computer...

in fact, you may not even realise that you already may have one that will work.

I have the same problem, I do hear windows media player and all but cubase doesn't hear my bass. Also with guitar pro I hear everything through my headphones except for the vocal or drum track. Anyone know anything about that?

Plug your speakers or headphones into the pedal like hunta said. It plays back from there rather than from your computer while working in Cubase or any other DAW. I have no idea how to change it.

By default I don't think there IS a way to change it as ASIO is a single-device deal without custom drivers.

HOWEVER!

Asio4all can get around this, as it allows ASIO across multiple devices.
Set zoom as input, Sound card as out, Sort'd.

hey same problem myself, the test tone noise that is.sounds like interference on the usb or something. weird tho only comes out in cubase.when cubase is closed you dont get interference from normal computer sounds etc. tried messing around with buffers and sync's but no to avail! anybody with a fix, much appreciated!!
as for no playback, make sure your speakers/amp are pluged into the output jack on the pedal. and the input/output ports in cubase are set for the usb codec.you'll find it under devices, device setup and vst multitrack-control panel, for LE. then check devices-vst inputs is on for the codec.

thanks
