| As somebody who owns both mics, they do seem to have similar pickup patterns and sound. I prefer the SM57 on my guitar amp because I can get it closer to the signal source. The PG57 isn't bad on guitar, but I prefer it on vocals to the SM57. It might just be because I seem to hear more of my voice in the PG with its pop filter... I don't know why.
Maybe my SM57 isn't working right, because I used to love how it sounded with vocals.
Of course, I prefer a SM58 on vocals in general.
