Digidesign Mbox 2 Mini

Keeping this post simple and short.

Can I plug a bass directly into the Mbox 2 Mini without a DI box, mixer, compressor, etc.?

Can I power it without a computer USB port but with a wall outlet to USB adapter (like for charing an iPod) to use it as a practice headphone amp?

I have an m-box mini not a 2 but looks the same.

I can plug all of my basss directly into it without any preamp etc and it works fine.

Not positive about the second question, as I have never tried it nor do I have a regular USB power source that is not connected to my computer.

Yes, you can plug into it without a DI or anything but you cannot use it apart from the computer. It is only an interface and not a stand alone piece of gear. It needs the software to operate properly.
