I have Logic, Reason, and Pro Tools on my Mac. I couldn't get into Audacity, but that was a "me" issue. I have it on my laptop.

Sounds like hes looking for an interface more than a piece of software. Look at the PreSonus stuff on MusiciansFriend.com, I am sure that they make a box that suits you.

I have the M-Audio FastTrack they are a bare bones interface but usable. MF has refurb's all the time for $70. I have used mine with instruments and mic's going in both GarageBand and Audacity.

Audacity, FTW. If in fact you are looking for an interface, I'm pretty sure that even the cheap-y ones are good. People here have even told me to get a behringer one.......*shrugs*. When I was recording, I just had an internal sound card that could handle it.
