Here is a sound file sample from my new Ernie Ball Music Man Big Al 4 string with the middle pickup in passive mode recorded dry.

I played this sample fingerstyle. It doesn't sound all that much like a P-bass to me, although if I play with a pick it has a more P-bass vibe to me. I do think it has a wonderful round tone, just not the attack of a P-bass.

This soundfile has the bass recorded with an acoustic guitar and Rhodes piano.

As an aside I find the BigAl sounds less "interesting" than my Fender Jazz played by itself but it sits in a mix much better than my Jazz.

If you play a BigAl which pickup/combination do you find yourself using most frequently?
