First professional recording date today.

I've had some studio work on upright, but have my first professional studio date on electric bass today. I'm bringing my p/j Pedulla. The project is supposed to be laying tracks for a female R&B vocalist, and I've been told the guitar tracks are already down. I don't have any experience playing contemporary R&B, and am a little nervous. Any advice from you veteran studio guys?

Own it. Be confident and have an opinion. I would say 90% of my gigs I change something up with the lines that are presented and it usually works well without a lot of confrontation and I always get call backs. Any monkey can play lines that are on paper, make it your own, but always listen, smile and take the check.
