Free Direct X Plugins?

Know where I can find any? For use with Cool Edit Pro?

I'd really like a nice amp simulator for guitar w/distortion/decent tone. Or even a multi effects processor.

Any recommendations for cool/free Direct X plugins would be cool beans.

You could always troll on some IRC channels. www.packetnews.com IRC search may help you out.

These are VST, but good. Get a VST wrapper for Direct X compatibility (see above link for details):

DSound AW1 - Auto Wah

iZotope Vinyl

dB-T tempo delay

OHM FORCE - Frohmage

and a free pack from digilogue (called BLUE LINE or something...)

This site has links to just about every VST plugin out there, so there are quite a few free ones, you just have to find them.

Just found this on the aforementioned site, considering that you already have a DirectX VST wrapper you should really red this:

http://www.kvr-vst.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9780

EDIT: D'oh sometimes I'm pretty stupid... i looked at this site often and only now i see that there is actually a search function where you can select that you only want free plugins...

Free: Simulanalog Guitar suite - www.simulanalog.org

Suite of vst plugin with amplifiers and analog processors containing the simulation of:

- Boss DS-1 (Distortion stompbox)
- Boss SD-1 (Super Overdrive stompbox)
- Tube Screamer (Overdrive stompbox)
- Oberheim PS-1 (Phaser stompbox)
- Univox Univibe (Modulations stompbox)
- Fender Twin 1969 (Guitar amplifier)
- Marshall JCM900 Dual Reverb (Guitar amplifier)

Ugly UI, but great sounds.

Commercial: NI Guitar Rig - amp modeling + effects
http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?guitarrig_us

Both VST, but with wrapper it might work as DX.

Other quality free goodies (my best picks from trying dozens of plugins)
reverb: http://www.sinusweb.de/freetoo.html
delay: Bionic Delay http://www.interruptor.ch/vst_overview.shtml
chorus: Classic Chorus http://www.kjaerhusaudio.com/
compressor: Blockfish http://www.digitalfishphones.com/mai...em=2&subItem=5

Of course, YMMV..

hmm, usually most DX and VST effects allow real time processing...

iirc, in cooledit you have to add them to a track in multitrack mode (theres this tiny button that says FX next to the tracks volume fader and EQ button)
