Free recording software with MIDI support?

Hi guys,

Just wondering if there are any decent, free, audio recording packages out there that support MIDI. Audacity would have been a go to but I don't think there is any way to record MIDI with it.

I'm putting together an online project with some old bandmates (due to personal schedules finding time for us all to jam is tricky). The drummer has an e-kit so we were going to record using MIDI so we didn't have to worry about the iffy samples that come as standard with the kit.

Cheers!

- Will

Im no pro when it comes to recording, but if you have a Mac, then you could use Garageband. It's pretty neat software, plus Mac's already have a midi driver installed

Wanting to stick to PC (sorry, should have pointed that out), trying to plan it out so we can all use the same software and store files on a cloud based storage system.

I use reaper. Its really great software, imo and easy to use. It has a fully functional, non-crippled 30 day free trial and costs only $60 to buy!

+1 for Reaper.
Actually I think you can continue using Reaper after the 30 day trial period has expired. Just turn off the nag screen after startup.
I did that for awhile until I bought a license. Don't know if it still works.

You can't turn off the nag screen but yes, you can continue to use it after the trial period... At least, until your conscience gets the better of you.
