Freeware Question

I wan't to record 1 bass track & 2 vocal tracks on my computer using a freeware program. I did a search & Kristal & Audacity seem to be the favorites on this site. Are there any other freeware programs i should be looking at?

Windows or Linux/Mac?

Audacity is about as good a freeware gets for the PC, but if you can run Linux or Mac, Ardour is absolutely the way to go.

Audacity is free (-as-in-freedom) software by the way, not simply some lame freeware.
