Couldn't find this posted here yet, but apologies if it has been. Just got an email alerting me that Gibson intends to purchase Cakewalk: http://www.cakewalk.com/Press/releas...e-Cakewalk-Inc
As someone who has been using Cakewalk software since v1 (and uses the latest Sonar Producer today), I am not sure how to feel about this - or, if I feel anything at all. Could lead to some cool products integrating hardware and software, or could muddy up the whole thing.
I know that there are plenty of folks who just prefer to use Apple/Protools, but not interested in what is the preferred solution in the recording world. Mostly, just curious about folks views on the deal if you use it currently, and whether you think it means anything at all - good, bad, or otherwise.
I went down this path a long time ago because, at the time, I couldn't afford to buy into the Apple/Protools game. Now, I just stick with it because I am old and it is what I know.
