How to speed up loops? RC 50

Aight, I just got a RC-50. Upgraded from my RC 20. Was watching a video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlLEC1453-g

Now then, I've read my manual through, may have missed a couple things, but I don't know how to speed up a loop (Like he did in the first minute of the video). I can do it by tapping a quicker tempo on the tempo pedal, but the quality just kinda goes to s***.

Am I missing something?

Thanks for the help

Dave Marks, who is the performer in this vid says "It's one looper - the Line 6 DL-4 Delay looper. It has a half time feature, which, if you record in on, can be used to double the tempo and raise the pitch by an octave."

The looper you have may not have the "half-time" feature.
