I NEED A VIDEO CAMERA!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi.

I'm playing a gig at my college and want to record my bands set, the problem is though that I do not have a video camera. Could some of you please reckomend me some cameras and your experiences of them? i'm willing to spend upto £120-£130.

Thanks much.

Mark

Ive not got a lot of experience with different cams but i would say in your price range you wont get much thats capable of shooting a gig. i suppose its really down to what quality you want but for low light shooting, and maybe manual record level you wont get anything decent.
My recommendation is if its just for shooting this gig then hire or borrow something thats up to the job.

Ive shot a few gigs over the years using different formats, nothing pro just home camcorders and while some have come out ok nothing has been great. and these weren't bottom of the range models either.

All lights will be on (college hasn't put any show lighting up yetbecause they do not have the right sockets for them). I'm looking for it something that has better quality then a phone ( http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=QcupNd...e=channel_page Thats how bad the quality was when recording from a phone)

That would still be classed as low lighting IME.
I would expect you can get better than that yes but i still think you budget is a little low. Im pretty sure you would get better footage though for your budget.
How about a digital P&S camera that also does video? That might be a good bet.
Also, that clip looks bad because there was too much panning and zooming.
This clip was taken on my Nokia N95 by a friend in the audience and im quite happy with it but its not sometihng you would want to play back on a large TV.
