iPhone 4 & Blue Mikey

Sign in to disble this ad
I have an iPhone 4, and I started playing around with FourTrack just using the internal mic. Then, I looked into the Blue Mikey for a little better microphone for recording into the iPhone 4. But I found out...

Blue Mikey (1.0 and 2.0) is not compatible with the iPhone 4.

Apparently it works great for all prior generations, but not the iPhone 4.

I do have the Amplitube iRig. So, I'm planning to try that with a SM58 mic I have and see how that works. But I'd really like to have a little attachable mic like the Blue Mikey for recording rehersals or just messing around writing songs.

Does anyone know of an alternative to the Blue Mikey that will work with the iPhone 4?

I haven't used it myself, but I have seen comments on other forums that the Blue Mikey isn't any better in sound quality than the built-in mic on the iPhone. ICBW, YMMV.

i don't have experience with the mikey however my friend has one and it works fine with his iphone 4. it says its incompatible when he plugs it in but he uses it and it works just fine. He seems to like the mikey over the iphone 4's mic. This is just his experience with it not mine but hope this helps

I emailed Blue, and they said that they're working quickly to revise their audio accessories for the latest Apple audio platform. No timeline.
