JDI vs. J48

Curious about the line level/output on these. Does the J48 have much more gain? I wish it had a gain control on it.

Did you read the blue report on their website?

If you want gain control just step up to the JDV.

Yeah, that's really just a unity device like the bassbone. I'm thinking the U5 will work better.

The output of the J48 is much hotter than the JDI.

Really? I think I might try that one. Hopefully it's a better DI than Bassbone. The Bassbone is a good preamp, but not that great of a DI.

The J48 has a 15 dB pad, so you can use it full strength or not. I use one with my active Fodera to go directly to the board, and the level's just right with the pad engaged. I have to boost the input gain at the board when I use the JDI.

The JDV doesn't have a gain control, just the drag control for passive pickups.

It has a speaker input pad(-30db). And a -15db output pad.

But it is totally sweet!

Yeah? So it's worth the extra dough over J48?

I have a J48 on the way now. Gonna try that one first. Hopefully that will keep the gain on my interface down. Hope this works.
