Picked up a
Korg NanoKontrol a few days ago. Figured it was time to give the mouse a rest during tracking and get a cheap transport control surface.
Presto! I can now track relatively mouse free! My wrist is thanking me for it!!
Yeah, it's a cheapie gizmo, but it does the job. I actually feel like it's a bit of a luxury to get away from the mouse and concentrate on my playing now when I track!
Anyways, it's got 4 'scenes.' Scene 1 I use to track. Scene 2 I use for rough mixing, where I simply re-program one of the fader buttons to 'mute' a track instead of 'record.' 3 and 4, I'm not too sure yet. I'll probably assign them to the plugins I use most.
My only issue is - 9 channels? If they made one of these babies 20-24 channels with ten scenes for $120, I'd pick one up in a NY minute. Works like a charm, if only a tad clumsy. Then again, I'm a tad clumsy
I'm not surprised when companies that have been around for a gazillion years make useful products at reasonable prices. If anyone needs cheap transport control (if nothing else), I strongly suggest this.
Warning:
I've only used it with Sonar 8.5. Not sure how it will work with other DAW software. Then again, it's just a little midi controller for Pete's sake! It 'aint rocket science.
