Learning Cubase 5 Essential?

My search-fu may be off, but I can't find anything specific on this from previous discussions.

I'm trying to get my mind wrapped around Cubase 5 Essential and am having a helluva time. I equate it to first learning Photoshop and Illustrator. It's one thing to know how to draw & paint, but is a whole new conceptual world when trying to replicate those efforts on a computer. Bezier tool anyone?

I'm on a quest to find some good resources (DVD or online) where I can get a primer on how to run through Cubase. My main goal is to build backing tracks and to also get some clean recordings that I can share with other band-mates scattered across the country.

I think your best bet is to find a DVD tutorial for the standard Cubase 5 and go from there. I know essential is missing some of the bells and whistles, but the basics should be the same. Good luck.
