Lexicon Lambda?

Sign in to disble this ad
These things look really promising, but there a few concerns I've heard-- some latency, buzzing if too many additional apps are open, etc...and Cubase LE activation. I'm not so much concerned about the activation because I have other recording software, but basiically my question is this:

Do you have experience with the Lambda? Is it worth it?

If it's not, what better alternatives are there for the ~200 dollar range of things? I'm just trying to do small recordings on my own, not really too much simultaneous-input stuff in mind.

Thanks in advance.

Cubase LE activation was a nightmare. No buzzing, a little latency.
I got mine for $80.00 with a coupon, I think it's worth it.

I've uploaded a video I recorded with my pandora, mim p-bass, and lexicon lambda.

Yeah, I've done research about the Cubase LE hassles....it sounds like the company really doesn't care.

Your bass tone was a tad muddy there, man, but fine otherwise. Thanks for sharing. I'm now considering the Omega, as well....for 50 more dollars, more bang for the buck. And then again, I'm wondering if I should stop being a cheapie and just go for the 400-dollar Musician's Friend Mbox bundle. Any more opinions?

if you follow the procedure, registering the software is not a problem.

Cubase registration did take a little work but wasn't too bad.

I did have latency issues that made multiple tracks impossible but the AISO4AlLL driver fixed that and now i've done songs with about 26 tracks with no problems. Also no buzzing issues.

My only regret is that I didn't go for the Omega which allows 4 tracks of simultaneous recording which would be nice for drums.

I had an Omega, it came with a program called "pro tracks".
I just used Magix Studio, worked ok for me until I got my protools.

Hmm. I should've mentioned I'm a Mac user (12" iBook G4 running OS X 10.4.9). Would this driver be available to me?

I'm seriously considering just saving for the aforementioned Mbox Mini bundle. Seems much more stable, and comes with ProTools LE.

A quick look at the AISO4ALL website doesn't mention mac...but I'm really not sure.

As far as the "all around" package, that's what I would suggest. I love LE

I disagree, the software is poorly written so that even if you follow the procedure step by step, it can error out. On one of my computers, it freezes whenever it tries to do the final step of confirming the activation online. Obviously, it's not actually a problem with the connectivity, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to make this post.

In general, I'm very neutral about the Lexicon Lambda, I wouldn't deter you from using it, but I wouldn't exactly recommend it either.
