Lexicon Lambda or Line6 TonePort

I'm sorry to ask this kind of question. But I really struggle between these two.

My purpose is record my bass at home, then mix it with my 500-miles-away friend's keyboard and one-pacific-ocean-away drums. I only need to record bass part, but need to listen to their music when play, so I need as few latency as possible.

I have a Sansamp BDDI. So I'm thinking about record thru it. Phantom power would help me reduce one power cord.

Lexicon Lambda looks pretty good. But I also saw lots praise for line6 toneport UX1, which come with lots effect, good recording software and virtually latancy-free(?)

My PC is a Microsoft-based AMD X2 PC with 4G ram. If that helps. And both my fretted and fretless basses are 5-strings.

I have a UX2, and I love it. But I think I'll look into the Lexi too. Looks pretty cool.

Don't bother with the UX1 (outdated now).

Only the UX2 and KB37 have phantom power.

The Line6 stuff sounds good for the price, it gets my vote.

Pricewise they're about the same.

Lexicon Lambda is $149, with 2 phantom powered XLR input. Cubase LE software and Pantheon VST reverb software.

Toneport UX1 is $129, with 1 XLR in (no phantom power?), but with good drivers/software in package.

UX2 sounds good... but the price is higher though. I'm not sure does it really make difference.

hmm i think i'd go for the line 6. no phantom power is a con but the software looks great.

it's all up to you though

I'm currently using the Lexicon Alpha with good results for my home recording projects. The addition of 48V power in the Lambda is a good upgrade, as is MIDI connections. The Lexicon USB interfaces come with Cubase LE, which is a very powerful digital sequencing/recording software. Latency is not an issue at all.

There are enough good-quality free VST effects available that having them included with the recording interface package is a non-issue, IMO.

I bought a UX2 for my nephew last month for his birthday and have played around with it a bit. It's a nice unit. It doesn't have as low a latency as my PCI sound card, but it gets the job done for most audio recording situations. And it works great as a practice headphone amp too! lol...

The vst's are a nice bonus and sound pretty good. I have a Line6 Bass PODxt Live with all those models built into it and the vst's do a pretty good job at them, comparitively speaking. I've been thinking about picking up the Full Bass Line6 VST package to use myself.

I like to use my UX2 as a preamp so I actually run the audio out line into my mixer rather than use the USB as my soundcard I then run the mixer into my PCI M-Audio card, sounds great. The Toneport is also a good preamp for "live" recording guitars etc, effects are great and there is a tube preamp that sounds really good. For direct bass tones it's easy to use, flexible and good sounding - there are multiple mixer board consoles that produce strong transparant tones. I use mine everyday and I find it more useful all the time.

Here i run my line out, directly in to the Tone port UX1 right into audacity. No amp emulation, sounds pretty good, any suggestions or comments?
