Listen to my recording...Dynamic variations

Sign in to disble this ad
After recording a power metal song, with my fingers and without a compressor, I notice when I see the frequencies of my bass recording the notes are not all even and there are some dynamic variations within the same part, not so noticable while listening but I notice them when I see the wave of the bass recording at Transcribe program...
This can be solve after compressing with the computer or I need to re record it again???

I have tried to play the song with a light touch for a more neat tone
what do you recomend me to do please...
You can download the recording and tell me your opinion, we recorded micing my hartke cab and gk head.
thanks

No one else is going to "look" at your music. Judge with your ears, not your eyes. And when did dynamics and touch become a bad thing???

You judge everything with your ears! Visual aids such as an spectrum analyzer should only be used once you are comfortable with making similar decisions with your ears. Its a creative subject, not a scientific one, and SEEING things that look wrong should only ever be a cue to listen a bit harder to the aspect in question.

The reason could be a number of things, a resonance in the room, amp, bass or your fingers. In reality most bass parts have variations like the ones you describe, but if it SOUNDS bad in those places to you as well, and compression doesn't solve it, then try listening out for those notes sounding louder than other in the room or look at your techniqe to see if you are digging in too much on certain strings/areas of the fretboard!
