Cool Logic Studio Pro 9 not so logical...

I'm beginning to regret going with Logic, although some of its capabilities are better then Pro Tools.

Today's problem. I have a recording with about 6 guitar tracks and one drum loop track. Whenever I go to add anything, I suddenly get a "Logic is having problems synchronizing audio and midi. Detecting sampling rate of 37,143. Check external devices."

Funny thing is, I don't have any effects on the guitars, the drum track and everything plays fine until I create a new track and try to record.

The other thing that drives me mad is the manuals for logic, online, PDF, suck. Idiot's guide to Cubase was great. Absolutely nothing like that for Logic.

Can anyone help me?

What audio interface are you using? You might you to set the sample rate manually on the interface to match logic's project settings.

Were the tracks recorded in a different session, and/or software using a different sample rate that doesn't match your current project settings?

For the record I use Logic all the time, and have never seen that issue. I do tons with both audio and midi in the same project.

As others said you must set your sound card & software to the same sample rate.
IMO the Logic software is fine.

Your tracks , if imported from another session must also be imported at the same sample rate as they where recorded.

Got nothing to do with effects plugins, logic is having trouble syncing with your audio or midi interface. It's probably currently set to external clock sync, should be on internal.

You're always going to run into trouble when you switch DAW's, but this sounds like a minor problem that could happen with any DAW.

if you aren't doing a lot of midi, Protools is a better option for audio recording IMO. I hate recording audio in Logic. I also don't like recording midi in protools.

most agree that logic is easier to look at in logic. but i dont hear the difference in audio between logic and pro tools. people have been scoffing at logic since day one, but when i play them a track of each, they can't tell. what drives me to logic is the free plugins. im not paying 2 grand for a software compressor. logic's free one will do just fine

but to each his own.

as for the OP, your issue is, as stated, one regarding the hardware talking to each other. ive never had that error, and i use a ridiculous amount of midi instruments without bouncing them to audio tracks. i'll get the system overload thing once in a while (running 10.4.11 on an 07 MBPro), but never a problem with syncing devices. there is a logic pro forum that is incredibly well maintained. id check there if you cant settle it on your own. a lot of them are certified and will get back to your promptly.

I don't think there is a huge difference between each in terms of the mix bus sound but they are different. I feel like logics mix bus has more headroom but isn't as clear as protools. I feel like i can get more punch out of my logic mixes where Protools will crunch out.
