Looking for a audio interface on a budget.

Ok. So I've got a desktop that I want to use to do recordings. I've got adobe Audition on it for a recording program I just need an interface. I've got a budget of about 2-300 dollars, and I'm a complete noob to this. So can someone recommend a good, user friendly interface and what I need to be able to hook everything up and get things going?

You could get a less expensive Behringer interface for around $40 if you wanna use your current software. Or for your budget, you could get an interface (M-Audio, PreSonus, Cakewalk/Roland/Edirol...) with bundled software.

USB or Firewire also comes into play.

But for the simple/quick just instrument: use current software and start cranking, I'd go with the Behringer. Cakewalk also makes a UA-1G that has bundled software (Sonar LE) for $99.

I use a Line6 GX interface, Pod farm, and Audacity.

I got this last year, came with Cubase, and I love it, easy to use.

I have 2 of these chained together. Works great! Make sure to disable your computer sound card and use the interface as your sound card. I did this the other night and the sound quality improved dramatically. Also, I was plugging my bass directly into the Inspire. Switched to using my direct out on my Super Redhead. If you do this you don't have to use much of the preamp on the Inspire. Warmed the sound right up!! Huge difference! All in all, these interfaces have been working great!
