This looks odd (mic pattern)

I know i was looking at the Studio Projects mics, but i have been given a chance at getting a Behringer B-2 Pro mic really cheap. Which is important right now, as im skint, but still wanting a LD condensor mic. And i have done quite a bit of reading up, and as lower end mic's go, it seems to fair pretty well.

This isnt a thread about the quality of this mic or anything, it is about what i found on the behringer website.

http://www.behringerdownload.de/B-2P...PECS_Rev_B.pdf

Look at the cardioid pattern on the final page. Was something misaligned when they were doing tests on it or something? Especially when compared to the Fig-8 etc, its really quite baffling?

It is the updated version of the B-2 mic [LINK], which shows a more expected Cardioid pattern (apparently the only updates is the addition of the switching etc, and it sounds the same).

Just looking for some insight to what people think the problem there could be, or will it just have to be positioned squint when using cardioid

I think you're misreading the chart. The left side of the graph plots its response at 250Hz, 500Hz, 1000Hz, and 2000Hz. The right side is showing 4kHz, 8kHz, and 16kHz. You're not seeing asymmetry, you're seeing that it's more directional at higher frequencies. Its predecessor's plot looks much the same.

If it were me, I'd have felt better about the mic.
