MacBook Pro With Lion and Pro Tools 9 - Am I Screwed?

Sign in to disble this ad
I just got a new MacBook pro from MacMall which was supposed to come with Snow Leopard. Upon Ordering, I asked if Lion would come pre-installed, but they assured me it would not. The operator said the computer would ship with Snow Leopard and a download code for Lion.

Now that I realized I have Lion, I'm a bit worried. PT 9 only has a Beta update for Lion at the moment, and from everything I've read, people don't have anything nice to say about 10.7.

Is there any easy way to install 10.6 on this new machine? I have a feeling it would save me quite a few headaches.

Installing Snow Leopard on Mac Pro that came with Lion? - Mac-Forums.com

It seems that the key is that the hardware must be identical to the models that shipped with Snow Leopard earlier in the year.

My biggest quarrels were with an older version of MS Office which doesn't work anymore in Lion.
The following site provides info about compatility issues with many applications and Lion:

No major issues here as well and I've been running quite a few developer seeds. 10.7.2 is almost getting there - pretty stable and ironed out a good portion of the bugs.

Also for what it's worth, the latest version of SL 10.6.8 is basically Lion without the UI changes and updates of 10.7.

lucky for you guys. on my mac pro tower with lion, protools 9 just makes strange hissing noises and doesn't do the things I need it to, like play, or open session files. if anyones got any ideas how to get it working I would love to hear them, getting sick of settling for using Logic.

Update:

I went to the Apple Store and they rolled me back to 10.6.8. I now have Pro Tools 9.0.5 AND Ableton Live 8.2.6 installed and working flawlessly.
