What is your take on this model? I'd be using it to record some demos for my band, and I'd take it to college next year just to record demos in my dorm room.

They are pretty cheap. Not the best Pre's or FX but I am sure you are getting a good deal as they are discontinued. I am sure for what you are doing you will be fine. Especially if you have no experiance with a mixer, they are pretty dummy proof, Mackie is good about that. Ignore the vocal remove button.

I use one for Karaoke, and find the effects to be pretty good for that. It is a really decent board.
