Mackie ONYX 2480 vs Mackie 24/8

Has anyone had experience with the Onyx 2480? I'm a big fan of the 24/8, and was planning on getting one but I recently found an onyx 2480 for not too terribly much more than what I was planning on spending.

I was wondering how much better/worse the preamps are, whether the firewire output is worth a damn or not, how well it can take abuse, and how you liked/disliked the bus and auxiliary sections on the board.
