make the most out of my computer and cubase sx

I have cubase sx and I would like to know what i can do, with what I have
right now, to get as much as I can out of cubase.

My set is:
Dell computer
1.6 Ghz
512 ram (PC133)
80 gig 7200 hard drive (4 partitions)
Santa cruz sound card
Win XP home edition (with sp1)

I want to dedicate the computer to music, but i need an internet connection,
mostly for files transfer (msn) and E-mail (outlook).
I have nothing running in the back ground (as far as I know). I don't have
office, or kazaa or anything.
I turned off all the visual effect in XP.
Anything else I could do to make it a better work station?

I don't need much. Only some home demo. About 10 track of audio with effects
and some plug-in. But, the faster the better

Thank you

A few tweaks: http://www.opusaudioprojects.net/WinXp.htm

These apply to XP as well:

I'd backup before changing anything and only do 1 or 2 change at a time, in case you have problems (it's easier to isolate what change caused the problem).

Sweet!

If you haven't already, a second hard drive makes a huge difference. I keep Windows and my application on an IDE drive, and my project and music files are on another SCSI drive. I've never run out of computer resources, no matter how many tracks I'm running, so I'd consider it.

Cheers.
