Maudio 410 or Firebox?

Just wondering...I'm only recording one bass to my computer right now, so whatever the best interface that includes a preamp that doesnt cost $500+ would be great, suggest away.

well, here's what I like about the 410...2 headphone inputs...granted you could always get a Y jack and hook it up to the firebox but honestly, do that to the 410 and you still get more out of it.

I've heard nothing but praise for the Firebox but then again I haven't researched the 410 either. The output monitor on the 410 is a nice idea, I think Presonus is moving towards this on all their products.

Are you on a mac or PC? I'd almost say based on the fact that its a mac, M-Audio may be the better choice since Apple supports the M-Audio stuff...Presonus, great stuff but indepedant company.

Tough call.

Presonus would get my vote.

They are both excellent companies. Im just a big fan of presonus. Great quality stuff, and great customer support

I think you'll find most suggestions based around the same sort of argument, when it comes down to it, both units are more or less the same quality, and its who you prefer to deal with. Guitarists in my band have an M-Audio Fastrack and an M-Audio Fasttrack Pro, and they have never had any issues with them. I use a Presonus Firepod and Eureka, but also have an M-Audio Tampa.

Both options are good

I've got the M-Audio Fast Track as well...it's a tough call because of that headphone thing in my view. I guess it really depends on your usage in the end.

The preamps on the presonus are most likely better than the m-audio ones. I'm biased so I'll recommend this: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...ce-?sku=245020
I have the pro/26 which has the same preamps and they're great. Make sure you have a passable firewire card before you get anything though.
