mbox 2 mini vs line6 ux2 help

Sign in to disble this ad
So for my birthday I would like to get some recording stuff but it’s a scary world,

One friend recommended an mbox2 mini and another said ux2 is good

I tried sum research but alls I found out is that mbox comes with pro tools(witch I can use once its set up for me) and ux uses ableton witch my friend can teach me to use,

Also I read that I would need an external hard drive for the mbox
And monitors, but I could use studio headphones instead of monitors couldn’t I if I could get some guidance over the next few months I would really appreciate it

Also I’ve tried to record my bass straight to my pc before using audacity and on YouTube but the latency is killer

I used the mbox and currenlty use the UX2. I prefer the UX2 for a couple reasons, the latency is nearly non-existant and the sounds are more organic sounding. All the mbox presets had an artificial aftertaste, that the UX2 (Pod Farm or Gearbox) has, but not as pronounced.

I don't believe you will need an external HD for the Mbox.

For just starting out Protools is a PITA. Ableton is better and Audacity is even easier. I use Cakewalk Home Studio XL and have for years, I really like it.

These recordings are a mixture of live and modeled sounds. While not the greatest mixes they should give you a rough idea of what the UX2 can do, which i primarily use as a preamp for live micing.
