Mic for EABG

Sign in to disble this ad
I really love the natural tone of my electric acoustic.

It has a pre/pup but I do not dig the sound when plugged into my amp.

Can someone recommend a mic that will capture & reproduce my basses natural sound without coloring it?

I plan on recording with it too.

Thanks,
FS

A good pair of pencil condensors are usually pretty honest. Like a pair of DPA's or Earthworks. If you wanted to go the large diaphram route id go with the AKG 414 b-xls. The upgraded model will be less honest with a top end sheen, which doesnt sound like what you want. A ribbon would probably sound great on it too but a ribbon will color the sound alot. These are all pretty expensive mics though so if this it out of your price range let me know and ill suggest something cheaper.

I have Highlander Internal Mics in both of my ABGs as well as my acoustics. I really like the sound, I use that almost exclusively for recording and mix it with the piezo for live stuff. I like this solution because I find mic stands so restrictive.
