Im using a synhieser 421. Should I put the mic in the middle of speaker, or on the side ?
Just wandering, if any other fretless players mic Hartkes, to get that zing

When mic'ing amps, I typically favor moving it out toward the edge of the cone more (usually just inside the edge an inch or 2). YMMV though. You'll probably get more mid-zing and less bass if you move it toward the middle. The best thing you can do is put on some good headphones with decent isolation and have someone play (if possible) while you move the mic around.

Try changing the mic to slightly off-axis positions as well (not pointing straight ahead), and closer and further away from the cab (and every combined variation thereof) until you hear what you like. The 421 is a very good mic, but you mitght want to consider trying others as well. Try placing the cab/mic in the center of your room too. Trial and error is the key here... everything affects the sound you get (including your room), so there is no sure-fire specific formula really.
