Mic preamp ?

Can I use a mic preamp to play my bass through ? I just got a Digitech VTP-1 in a package deal and was wondering if I can use it as a bass preamp. I also have the VCS-1 to go along with it.

the short answer is yes, itll be fine. It has to have a high impedence input, or youll need a DI. Some mic pres have characteristics that make them great for bass, some others not. Im not familiar with that pre amp to tell you if itll sound great or not, but it definately will work.

You're fine. The VTP description specifically says it's also a DI for guitar-type signals. I wouldn't take those out to gigs as they are not necessarily designed for rugged handling, but for recording you're all good.
