midi controller question

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello

I recently got the alesis photon x25 midi controller. Haven't used it yet. It is also an audio interface.

I was thinking about recording MIDI stuff using the alesis, connecting my bass to it and maybe also my drum machine, if possible.

I thought about connecting the DI out from my amplifier (MarkBass F1) to the alesis, but I'm not sure it's safe. The alesis has 1/4'' left and right audio inputs. Do I really only need an XLR to two 1/4'' cable for this, or is there more to it? Is this safe to do?

Thanks for your help!

It looks like it is a controller, audio interface, and has audio. But I don't think you can you record directly into this? Looking at the description, it appears it is also an audio interface. So you can record the audio from the keyboard into a DAW or use it as a controller for software synths. Hook the keyboard up to the computer using a USB cable.

There's some free recording software you can download to reocord your keys and probably run the drum machine through it no problem.

I wouldn't run your F1 into it. You may be able to plug your bass into one side of the stereo, but not positive.
