Unhappy midi controller sticking keys/becomes non-responsive

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi everyone, thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I'm running a WinXP setup with 1.5 gig of ram, a 3200+ AMD and a E-MU 404 sound card. I just picked up the sound card yesterday, upgrading from my onboard realtek crap, because I had hoped to solve this problem I have with keys on my Korg K-25 midi controller sticking to the "on" position. Also, the computer starts taking a dump and then the midi controller eventually stops responding. I have to exit Sonar 6 or the native soft synth program and turn on/off the midi controller to get it to work again. I'm running it through USB, BTW.

I'm running the ASIO drivers, which have low latency and all. I feel like it might be the midi controller.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks

Most of the time this is a MIDI cable issue. You need well shielded cables. Remember, they carry digital signals.

He is running it with USB .

This setup is similar to mine, i have a CME UF-8 MIDI controller, E-MU 0404 and Sonar 6 amongst other things . Do you mean you get ''Audio Stopped'' in red letters on Sonar ? If so i have the same problem now and again, i think it might be because i am running intense VST and FX on a relatively demanding host (sonar 6) and i'm on a 3.0GHz P4 with only 1GB RAM. I am going to have a better look through the manual and maybe even ask cakewalk before i fork money out on a new machine.

I am not accusing you of having a Warez version of Sonar 6 but for what it matters, i know that they don't work correctly and give LOADS of problems as far as audio aupport is concerned.

What Soft Synth's are you running ?

Well I know it's not just Sonar is the thing. When I use the M1 LE synth as a standalone it happens as well. I get no message such as "audio stopped" in Sonar.

I've tried playing with the autostop, and changed around the buffer and stuff to no avail.

Within the first few chords a key will keep playing (it shows on the virtual keyboard the key stuck down), and after this happens for awhile with keys sticking on and off the response of the midi controller gets worse and worse until I don't get any sound by playing the controller, at which point I have to turn it off and on again and restart.
