I posted this in Misc. but didn't get a response, afterwords I realized that this may be a better subforum.
Hi, I would like to get a MIDI controller(keyboard) with a built in DI so I can fool around with recording my bass(and do some electronic music). Do any of you have suggestions for a good relatively cheap keyboard? I don't think I would blow for a higher quality one, as I would probably just get the DI and MIDI separately. My teacher likes his Axiom for this, do you have any suggestions?

I just used mine this morning with reason 4 for the first time. I use it mostly for live shows, doing synth bass, but once in a while I use it as an interface or controller. |

One thing though, if you want to record your bass properly, the 1/4" in put is a line input, not an instrument input, so you need a preamp or a DI. The line out of your amp is fine, otherwise a DI, pod, sansamp, something like that. The 1/4" input will work, it is just not going to sound as good as with the proper impedance loading. |

Thanks | M audio axiom? I have one too and I can assure it has no DI box nor does it have an audio interface. I'd really be interested in knowing what your teacher does with it. It has midi in if you have a midi rigged bass but you'd still need some software synth or atleast a DAW with some midi instruments.
The xio does what you ask, but in my opinion, bass wise you'd be a lot better off buying a cheap midi keyboard and some audio interface with decent preamps for recording instruments. Like mrufino1 said, it's just a line in. |

Includes PodFarm amp modelling. The Line6 stuff is pretty okay. I use the PodXTLive to record into Cakewalk Sonar, works very well.
