Midi/USB cable

I've been looking at getting a USB/midi cable just to mess around with. I want to connect my Boss GT-6B to my laptop so I can use an editor. I also want to try connecting a keyboard to see if I can create some cool sounds.

My question is this: does it really matter what cable I get, or is a midi cable a midi cable. I'd like to save some money right now since I just bought a new bass, but if there is a big difference in products then I will go for the more expensive cable.

Cheap cable

More expensive

I really just need something that will work and won't die on me after a few uses.

At the "midi/usb interface in a cable" level I don't think there's much difference. More expensive interfaces ($100+) might perform better (with the right drivers), but as you're just doing patch editing, then the differences in latency won't matter at all.

For serious work you'd want something more substantial, but for messing around, a cable is a cable.
