Minimally, what would I need to produce a decent recording of a bassist, guitar, drum machine, and piano? Are their free but decent online programs or would I need a little 100 or lower $$ #-track machine? In addition, what mic(s) would I need?

You have to give us a little more info.

How many tracks do you want to record at a time? A full band?

Is the drum machine and piano going to be outboard gear or soft-synth (inside the box)?
