Mixer help

Ok, so I want to to start building up my studio. I'm stuck at whether the Mackie 1402 VLZ is worth the hefty $420 price tag, or if a cheaper Behringer mixer will do the job. I definitely need the Alt 3/4 out, and would like relatively noiseless preamps and enough power to drive an sm57. Or if you have any other suggestions feel free to tell. Please help me with this dilemma! Is the mackie worth the money?
