When recording with Mixcraft, and using an Asio driver, Mixcraft says there is no playback device connected. I went into the Asio mixer and it suggests two reasons for why the speaker is as it says 'unavailable.'
'In use by another application?'
and
'MS GS Wavetable Synth Enabled?'
What is MS GS Wavetable Synth? Do I just need to change some settings for it to work, or download software or something? |

| | | | Which ASIO driver?
ASIO4ALL is good, but it's strictly a one connection at a time driver.
Make sure you go into Control Panel -> Sound and Audio Devices -> Sounds and select "No Sounds"
This will keep windows from claiming the audio device.
ASIO drivers supplied with real audio interfaces usually don't have a problem.

"Out : 6x 8-48kHz, 16 bits ( Status: Unavailable! >-In use by another application? >- MS GS' wavetable synth enabled? )
and of course not only in the vst but in general when i open the asio4all offline settings says the same thing..
obviously i have my outputs connected and working properly..so ..why??
what can i do to solve this problem? |

It is not, therefore, related to recording audio as such and shouldn't be worried about unless you want to use the sounds it contains.
If you have asio4all selected in mixcraft it should work straight out. Normally you turn off the windows sounds in controll panel as Sea Monkey says, but if it is just the built in soundcard you are using it may need to be on... as he suggested, check the forums, as asio drivers on stock soundcards is not an area I have ever really used (except in when I first got started, and it all worked so I never had to troubleshoot!)
To R2RO, are you using these vst's as standalone applications (in which case, you are not using them as vst's, a vst is a plug in that works within a host application). I don't think the Wavetable synth would effect the apps, in fact, it should have nothing to do with a vst/standalone vst thing. I had the wavetable synth as an option in cubase for years, and it worked if i selected it as the 'plug in' for the midi track, though I never used it, using third party vst's instead. It never got in the way.
However, maybe it is associating the midi signal coming in with the wavetable synth? I can't see how that would effect a vst listening to the same midi channel, but try turning it off anyway..
in both cases, buying a cheap but 'proper' audio device would more than likely solve the problems.

first, yeap those are standalone apps, you're right..
they are the hammond b4,and korg legacy by the way..
On the preference menu there is these audio options:
Direct sound, MMA , and ASIO
Currently i use the direct sound with my keyboard cause when i select the asio it appears that "Output 1&2 Not connected" on korg legacy, hammond b4,etc etc. so no sound..i see movement on the app but no sound since "there's no output available or connected"
this what appears:
and this is what sez when i try to use the live performance Brainspawn forte to host those apps: |
